How to add political party information to the Target block

The information in the target block of an Email To Target page is limited to the name of the target and their constituency (or whatever location based information is for your choice of database). For example, below:

The target’s name in bold, and the constituency below.

To add additional information, you need to follow these steps.

  1. Go to our github page and copy this JavaScript: https://github.com/EngagingNetworks/page-builder-code-blocks/blob/master/ett-target-block-show-target-party.js
  2. Add this code to a Code Block on the page with your Target Block, (remember to insert <script> tags </script> around the JavaScript).
  3. Edit the Target Block and click on the Settings icon:
  4. Tick “Display contact details.”
  5. Tick “Enable background information tab for each contact.”
  6. Click “Insert Contact Data” icon:
  7. Scroll to the bottom and choose “Party” (aka Biography 8). A breakdown of the other fields you can insert can be found here. For example, if you want to display the target’s region, you would choose Biography 7 instead.

The JavaScript will call for this bit of background information and then insert it into the Target Block’s heading, so in this case it will say: Candidate’s Name – Party, Constituency:
